FAAM 5th Graders participated in a Micro-Economy project through which they shopped for Christmas gifts for needy children in the Montgomery area. The project encouraged students to consider comparative shopping, prices, taxes, and working within a budget when making their purchases. After making purchases, the students wrapped the gifts. Funding for the project was made possible through the students' family donations, “PTA night,” and a poinsettia fundraiser. The students raised nearly $4000 and were able to provide gifts for 44 children during the holiday season.
